Through abstract landscape painting I seek to spatialize the landscape of memories both distant and near, sublime and mundane. My approach to painting leans on analog tools and processes of drawing and measuring a remembered terrain. I work primarily in watercolor and soluble graphite on paper, a medium that allows for the many spatial conditions, dynamic living processes, ephemera and time scales that the landscape embodies. I also love drawing en plein air.
